On April 24, 2017, Brazil and Spain concluded a Memorandum of Understanding expanding the cooperation between these countries through the exchange of information, experiences, and research, as well as of specialists.
Technical advice and assistance in the preparation of projects, research and technological development, organization of meetings, symposia, workshops and conferences and training programmes are also contemplated in the Memorandum.
The specific areas laid down to carry out the cooperation activities are:
a) Planning, project, development, construction, supervision, execution and exploitation of railway, road, port and airport infrastructure and facilities;
b) Preparation and management of railway traffic operation, maintenance of trains, traffic management systems;
c) Undercarriage, workshops design, training of railway staff, safety and commercial management of railway transport services;
d) Technical and commercial management of passenger’s stations;
e) Policies, regulations, and technical specifications on bidding process of roads and highways;
f) Quality control in highway projects and laboratory testing relative to construction materials;
g) Organization, regulation, and management of road transportation;
h) Management of training and qualification programs for engineers and other professionals;
i) Promotion of commercial exchange in the port activity scope;
j) Improvement of the port and city relations;
k) Policies, laws, and regulations on transport by sea and ports and air transportation.
The Memorandum will be valid for 5 years, counted from the date of its signature, which may be automatically renewed for successive periods of 1 year. The memorandum may also be terminated by either party giving at least three months’ notice
